When: | 14/Mar/10 For 1 days | Mothers day Bikers Event Wootton Bassett |
Posted By: | Sid | I've cut the details and pasted them, below, If you intend to do the complete run into Lyneham Camp, you need to register using the website. Either click on the Title or cut and paste the following link. http://www.afghanheroes.org.uk/bikersevent.asp PLEASE LOOK AT THE MEMBERS PAGE ABOUT SIGNING UP. IF YOU DO NOT SIGN UP BY THE 15 FEBRUARY YOU WILL NOT GET IN. Badges "Thousands of bikers from throughout the country are planning a spectacular mass ride through Wootton Bassett in Wiltshire on Mothers Day to honour soldiers who have lost their lives in Afghanistan. More than 1,000 riders are expected to ride through the Wiltshire town on Sunday March 14 and then gather on the runway at RAF Lyneham. They will there hand over funds raised for the Afghan Heroes charity set up last September by a group of mothers who lost their sons in Afghanistan. The bikers will descend on Wiltshire from throughout the UK and gather at the Leigh Delamere services on the M4 (Junction 17 - eastbound) before the mass ride through Wootton Bassett to RAF Lyneham at 12 noon where the fallen were repatriated into the UK. Each rider will pay £5 (on the day) and receive an Afghan Heroes wristband, which will be their entry pass to the RAF base. All proceeds raised from the ride will go to the Afghan Heroes charity, which helps our service personnel in theatre, families of the fallen and our returning troops." This will probably be the first event of the year for many and a good opportunity to meet up for the first time of the year BUT more importantly, to show support for those who have recently paid the ultimate sacrifice. As requested by Lord Sav, I will post the meeting places as they are made known. |

When: | 28/Mar/10 For 1 days | Wirral Egg Run |
Posted By: | Stubbbbo | For those of you that don't know, the Wirral Egg Run is an annual event which raises money for local children, children’s charities and donates Easter eggs to hospitalised children. Traditionally it takes place on the Sunday immediately preceding Easter. The 2010 Wirral Egg Run will be no exception, taking place on Sunday 28th March. Several thousand participants are expected to take part in the event. Meeting point B and Q Car park (right in the middle) Junction 1 M53 @ around 10.30? further ammendments to be made on official announcement. Keep checking the egg run site. Participants gather on motorcycles at New Brighton and ride a 20 mile pre-determined route to Clatterbridge hospital. Once there, they deliver their Easter eggs for children in Wirral. Whilst the donation and delivery of Easter eggs forms the core iconic tradition of the Egg Run, the more significant aspect is now the delivery by participants of cash donations to the Wirral Egg Run charity. After the arrival and a chillax at Clatterbridge we shall have a group ride to the local watering hole 'The Basset Hound' back by popular demand due to the faux par a couple of years ago at the swinging arm!(Soz Guys) Be great to see you all, Stubbs |

When: | 21/Jul/10 For 6 days | Dover to Apen.. Leaving Wednesday |
Posted By: | Spock_gb | Germany Invasion ... Newsletter 1 Things have moved on a bit, since I put the notice on the Wots On. The Eurotunnel prices have not changed at all, and are still showing £34 each way.So the decission has been made, by some of us SEVRAns, to go by boat from Dover. That way, we can be rested and ready for a good 100 mile ride, when we land. The ferry prices seem to change daily. £12.50 Out seems to be constant. £20 BACK today, but last week it was £17.50. Dont forget to use the discount code when booking for further reduction. ........... As you might be aware, I have been in contact with the Dutch, and they are more than happy for us to use the bunks in their clubhouse, on the wednesday night and sunday night. The total cost is 25 euro per person. That includes brekky as well. Its the hotplate type kitchen, where you cook your own stuff...... like the Moto Loft in Belgium. Sleeping accomodation will require you to bring a sleeping bag, as the beds are there in the form of bunks, but no bedding. Its a dormitory, consisting of 50 bunks....... so bring your earplugs as well :-) There are also showers and a BAR, so we can start the party early. ............ I`m aware that some of you might want to travel at different times, or by different means. However, if you are intending to use the Dutch Clubhouse, would you please be kind enough to register with me on gbailey27@btinternet.com , before the end of May. That way Sari will know how much food to buy for brekky...... and how many bunks will be needed. I will also be at the VRA AGM at Marlborough, with clipboard in hand to compile the list. ........... T Boy is currently investigating the possibility of hiring a van to carry the tents to Apen and back. His son and mate ( they were at the UK International ) will be driving. The intended cost would be no more than £30, depending on interest. He is looking for a minimum figure of 20 tents .......and 1 bag per person. Obviously, it would mean getting your tents to him before the off . Again, we will need to know of your interest. I suggest that you contact T Boy with this one, on msavill1@btinternet.com Please mark your email "VRA TENTS" ................. DOVER to CALAIS P+O Ferries Wed 21 Jul 2010 09:15 Wed 21 Jul 2010 11:45 Pride of Burgundy http://www.poferries.com/ Mon 26 Jul 2010 16:10 Mon 26 Jul 2010 16:40 Pride of Canterbury Discount code.........CSMA01 ....... Use a Debit card, cos there is a Credit Card charge when booking. .............. Thats it for now. I will keep you updated with anymore news. See you on the road, or in a cafe or a field, during 2010. Ride Long and Prosper spock # I have deleted the "sign up " as it would be better to register with myself for the Dutch Clubhouse... and T Boy for the tents. # |
